Προβλήματα στην κυκλοφορία των οχημάτων και κλείσιμο δεκάδων σχολείων έχει προκαλέσει το ασυνήθιστο για την εποχή, όπως αναφέρουν οι μετεωρολόγοι, κύμα κακοκαιρίας στη Βρετανία. Τα περισσότερα προβλήματα εμφανίζονται στα βόρεια και τα βορειοδυτικά της χώρας αλλά μέσα στο Σαββατοκύριακο η κακοκαιρία θα επεκταθεί νοτιότερα. Στην Σκότια, 159 σχολεία παρέμειναν κλειστά την Παρασκευή , πολλά από αυτά για δεύτερη ημέρα. Επιπλέον, οι μετακινήσεις των σχολικών λεωφορείων έχουν ακυρωθεί για λόγους ασφαλείας. Πρόκειται για την πρώτη φορά εδώ και δεκαεπτά χρόνια που καταγράφεται χιονόπτωση τόσο νωρίς στη Βρετανία, σύμφωνα με τις μετεωρολογικές υπηρεσίες. Στην Σκότια το χιόνι έφτασε τα τριάντα εκατοστά, ενώ χιόνισε και στην Ουαλία. Νέες χιονοπτώσεις αναμένονται το Σαββατοκύριακο σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα και στο Λονδίνο. Οι χαμηλές θερμοκρασίες θα επικρατήσουν για πολλές ημέρες ακόμα προειδοποιούν οι μετεωρολόγοι. • Σε μια εποχή που όλα γυρίζουν ασταμάτητα,  οι γρήγοροι ρυθμοί της καθημερινότητας σε καταπιέζουν και η ρουτίνα δεν σε αφήνει να ζήσεις, να γελάσεις, να εκφραστείς, οι “CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA” από τη Βρετανία έρχονται να φωτίσουν τη μαύρη τρύπα της ελληνικής πραγματικότητας.

Γιατί πέρα από τα βάσανα μιας σκληρής οικονομικής πολιτικής που ορίζεται από της επιταγές της Ευρωπαϊκής Ενωσης και των διεθνών οικονομικών κύκλων… υπάρχει η μουσική που ενώνει.

Θ’ ακούσετε, θα δείτε και θα νιώσετε ότι η μουσική δεν είναι τα σκουπίδια που ακούμε καθημερινά από τα ζόμπι της νεοελληνικής μουσικής πραγματικότητας. Και στο κάτω της γραφής, ξέρω ότι σήμερα που πήγατε στην Εφορία και σας κατέβασαν τα… παντελόνια, είναι γιατί ετοιμάζονται την επόμενη φορά ν ‘ αρχίσουν να τρώνε τις σάρκες σας!

Αλλά εσείς, καλό είναι να προμηθευτείτε κι ένα cd των “CINEMATIC ORCHESTRA” κι όταν βρεθείτε μπροστά στον Έφορο, ν’ ανοίξετε το μαγνητοφωνάκι σας για ν’ ακούσει τη θεία μουσική τους, μπας και συνέλθει και σας χαρίσει αυτά που χρωστάτε…

It is four months since British voters expelled Labour and Gordon Brown from power. Only last week did party members get their ballot papers for the election of a new leader.

In May, the advantages of a long campaign seemed obvious. The end of a 13-year stretch in office demanded a period of reflection. So did the election result, which offered Labour a disorienting mixture of relief and rout; bloody defeat with the weird consolation that total annihilation had been widely forecast.

Gordon Brown’s election bid was the biggest failure in that campaign, but not the only one. Nick Clegg’s surge vanished. David Cameron’s pleas for a clear blue majority were ignored.

Voters did not reward any party with a resounding mandate and yet the Liberal-Conservative coalition that took power has wielded it with impetuous energy verging on arrogance. It aims to change fundamentally the relationship between government and citizens. A sustained assault on public spending is the means to do it. It is not clear that the country gave its consent for this experiment, although it will be profoundly changed by the result. [continued]
